Mark Shelvock (he/him)

Registered Psychotherapist | Certified Thanatologist | Clinical Educator & Author| Adjunct Professor

Self-transformation is my passion and expertise. As a psychotherapist, I view my clinical duties as a sacred vocation. I support heroic odysseys of post-traumatic growth and I am a compassionate companion through life’s most challenging moments.

With over a decade of formal education in  human development and its interruption, I hold two advanced graduate degrees and a teaching position at the University of Toronto, where I educate adults on the psychology of traumatic loss. Early on in my professional journey, I taught college and university courses on the topics of dying, death, and grief (thanatology). These courses fostered open conversations about life’s most universal experiences, highlighting the value of life and inspiring us to make the most of our time on this planet.

Beyond psychotherapy, I publish frequently as I am passionate about accessible public health education. I aim to empower others, expand collective consciousness, and contribute to a more positive global psychology through my writing. I wholeheartedly believe our world needs an individuated response to the challenging times we live in.

Outside my practice, I love connecting with animals (especially dogs), exploring the world through travel, listening to Hans Zimmer, living in community as an extravert, engaging in life with a playful spirit, and listening to my dreams for inner wisdom.
